The Neighborhood App Privacy Policy

Effective August 7, 2026

The Neighborhood App is operated by Joshua Cohen (“The Neighborhood App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains the information The Neighborhood App processes when you use the app, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information we process

How we use information

We use information to create and authenticate accounts; provide neighborhood discovery and membership; display appropriate public profiles and local requests; deliver messaging, reviews, activity updates, and push notifications; enforce Community Standards; investigate safety reports; prevent abuse; maintain service reliability; and respond to support or privacy requests.

Service providers

The Neighborhood App uses Google Firebase services, including authentication, database, cloud functions, hosting, and messaging infrastructure. Those providers process information on our behalf to provide the service. Apple and Google may also process information through their operating systems, app stores, and notification services under their own policies.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information and do not use The Neighborhood App data for cross-app advertising tracking. Information you intentionally publish to your profile, neighborhood, requests, reviews, or conversations is visible to the users who are permitted to access those features. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or others.

Location

Location access is used for local neighborhood functionality. Permission is requested through your device. You can change location permission in system settings, although location-dependent features may then be unavailable.

Retention and account deletion

We retain information while it is needed to provide The Neighborhood App, maintain safety and integrity, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our terms. You can initiate permanent account deletion in the app from Profile → Safety & Account → Delete Account. The deletion process removes your account and associated profile and user data. Content that must remain to preserve another user’s conversation or transaction history may instead be deleted or de-identified so it is no longer associated with your account. Some information may be retained when required by law or for legitimate fraud, security, or legal-record purposes.

Your choices

You can edit profile information, manage device permissions, block other users, report content, sign out, or request deletion from inside the app. You may also contact us about privacy questions or requests.

Children

The Neighborhood App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information in violation of this policy, contact us.

Security

We use access controls, Firebase security rules, server-authoritative operations, and other technical safeguards intended to protect the service. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this policy as The Neighborhood App changes. The effective date above will be updated when the policy materially changes.
